A former minister and 130 others involved in Visakhapatnam land scam

The Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) report on the land scams in Vishakapatnam district is creating ripples. After an extensive investigation for over seven months, the SIT has submitted its report on the land scams that’s been happening since the past fifteen years.

Shockingly, few top politicians and government officials are involved in this scam. The SIT has mentioned YSRCP leader and former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao’s name in the report. The SIT has also done an investigation on the lands which were registered on Dharmana’s son’s name.

The SIT has clarified that minister Ghanta has no connection with the scam. It reported that the minister used his power to grab the lands that were allotted to the army men. The SIT requested to cancel some registrations and arrest few government officials. Three district collectors, four joint collectors who worked in Vishakapatnam were among the accused. The SIT in its report also mentioned the names of 10 revenue officers, 14 RDOs, and local leaders.
The SIT demanded to take criminal action on 130 government officials and suspend some of them. The AP government is planning to form a committee to initiate action on the accused.
