Amit Shah gets busy with By-elections results

The results of the by-elections held across the country are now coming out. Of these, the by-elections in U.P. and Bihar have garnered the highest attention from political parties.

In U.P., the by-poll was held for the prestigious Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat which was vacated due to Yogi Adityanath’s appointment as Chief Minister of the state. Yogi Adityanath had been the MP of Gorakhpur for five terms. BJP had presumed that this seat would be a cakewalk. The first few rounds of counting had indeed put the BJP in the lead, however, after 12 rounds of counting, the SP candidate Praveen Kumar is leading with over 15000 votes margin over BJP’s Upendra Dutt Shukla.

In Phulpur, the SP has been dominating from the beginning of counting. After 15 rounds of counting, the BJP candidate Kausalendra Singh Patel is trailing behind SP’s Nagendra Pratap Singh by over 22000 votes. This seat had gone to polls due to Keshav Prasad Mourya becoming the deputy chief minister of the state.

These results are being monitored by BJP head Amit Shah from the Party’s office. It is reported that he is closely observing each round of counting. With opposition SP leading in both constituencies, Amit Shah is said to be analysing what went wrong.
Coming to Bihar, the RJD candidates are leading in Araria Lok Sabha constituency and Jehanabad Assembly constituency. The BJP candidate Rinki Rani Pandey is leading in Bhabhua Assembly constituency.
