The massive success of ‘Arjun Reddy’ has catapulted Vijay Deverakonda to overnight stardom and his care-free attitude has attracted the youth a lot. Cashing on his newfound image, Vijay Deverakonda has launched an apparel brand ‘Rowdy’ which too is an instant hit.
However, some companies have been using the ‘Rowdy’ brand illegally without his permission. After coming to know about this, Rowdywear Pvt. Ltd, owned by Devarakonda, had approached the City Civil Court at Bangalore alleging the sale of counterfeit ‘Rowdy’ merchandise on Amazon. It was contended that clothes made by Rowdywear were being sold on Amazon.in under the name ‘Generic’.
A Bangalore court on Friday passed an interim order restraining Amazon India from passing off goods made by Rowdy – the apparel brand owned by Vijay Devarakonda – as their own.
It was further contended that Vijay Deverakonda’s right to publicity and privacy were violated owing to the fact that the packaging material of the counterfeit t-shirts unlawfully carried his pictures.
The matter will be heard next on March 29.
