BJP MLA Champalal Devda booked for slapping Police constable

Champalal Dewda, the BJP MLA of from Bagli assembly constituency of Madhya Pradesh landed in a deep trouble. Despite being in a responsible position, he behaved like a street rowdy and slapped a police constable at the police station.

The trouble began when the MLA’s nephew arrived at the police station and entered a restricted area where two accused were kept. The nephew took a water bottle from one of the accused, following which the constable Santosh Ivanati questioned him.
This enraged the MLA’s nephew, who entered into an argument with the constable and later informed his uncle Champalal Dewda.
Irked by his nephew’s complaint, Champalal Dewda rushed to the police station and started slapping the constable and hurled abuses at him for questioning his nephew.
The entire incident was caught on CCTV cameras installed in the police station. Dewda was later booked along with his two associates on the complaint of the constable.
A case was registered against the MLA and his supporters under IPC sections 353 (preventing a government servant from discharging his duty), 332 (assaulting public servant) and other relevant offenses.
