This week will witness thousands of people from various walks of life that includes lawmakers, business leaders, and activists gathering in Davos to discuss the greatest challenges facing the world.
At the yearly gathering hosted by the World Economic Forum, the emphasis is more on the talk of “worrying geopolitical and geo-economic tensions.” But, to its critics, Davos embodies everything that’s wrong with the current moment.
“They gather to talk about making the world a better place. But instead they commandeer our conversation,” said Anand Giridharadas, author of Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World, who will not be attending.
According to a report from the anti-poverty coalition Oxfam timed to coincide with Davos, the billionaires have been growing and the poor still remains poor. As per the latest reports, the top 26 billionaires own the same wealth as the poorest 3.8 billion people.
Among those on the list were Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, who has tripled his net worth since 2009, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, whose wealth grew 1,853 percent in that period.
BWN Says: ‘Greatest challenges facing the world’? So what can they talk about when none of these people really know the true struggles of real life? How could they possibly know the challenges facing the world, when they are blinded by their wealth and living in their own little worlds? What challenges, keeping people away from their money or how to make more money? What about inviting some intelligent homeless people or starving people to the ‘summit’??
BWN also said that they really don’t want to hear the real facts and just trying to cover up everything in the name of the summit which is totally sickening.
