Despite several laws imposed and stringent actions are taken, none could restrict the government officials to stop from taking the bribes. Recently, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have caught a junior assistant Diwakar with a large value of disproportionate assets across West Godavari district.
He was produced before the ACB court for judicial remand and the investigations are not. The ACB officials were left in a huge shock after seizing his assets which are worth crores.
ACB sources suspected that he might have received a bribe for various official favors. Officials said the asset value could increase further as there were two more bank lockers in IDBI and SBI banks that needed to be opened. As of now, Diwakar was arrested and booked for corruption. Overall, the document value of all the properties was estimated to be between Rs 10 to Rs 12 crore.
However, unconfirmed sources pegged the market value of the assets to be over Rs 50 crore. Apart from this, officials also unearthed movable assets that include Rs 6.25 lakh cash, Rs 60,000 worth foreign currency, Rs 3 lakh bank balance, Rs 30 lakh worth household articles, 500 grams of gold ornaments, 5 kg of silver worth Rs 2 lakh, five cars (Volkswagen – 2, Innova – 1, Creta – 1 and Indigo – 1) and two motorcycles. Explaining the background of the accused, ACB officials said that Diwakar was a native of East Vipparru village under Iragavaram Mandal in West Godavari district.
Diwakar joined government service back in 2009 as a junior assistant in Panchayat Raj in Chintalapudi village on compassionate grounds as his father passed away while he was working as a government teacher nine years ago.
