Murder in Himachal Pradesh, Supreme Court takes suo moto notice

The Supreme Court has taken suo moto notice of the murder of a government official in Himachal Pradesh, and ordered investigation into the matter. Assistant Town and Country Planner Shail Bala Sharma was shot dead by a hotel owner while she was on duty. 51 year old Shail Bala was conducting an anti-encroachment drive as per Supreme Court orders. The murder took place in Kasauli, where illegal constructions have become hazardous to people.
 

 
Shail Bala was attacked and shot by an irate hotel owner when she approached his establishment on Tuesday. Shot thrice, she was declared brought dead to the hospital. An employee of the public works department, Gulab Singh, who was accompanying her, was injured.
 

 
The Kasauli police ( Dharampur station) have launched a search for the accused – one Vijay Thakur, owner of Narayani Hotel near Kasauli. Meanwhile, Thakur’s family has said that he was under severe mental stress for some days.
