Toyota has joined hands with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to develop a pressurised vehicle capable of carrying astronauts on the lunar surface without the need for space suits.

JAXA is aiming to launch the system in 2029.

Interestingly, it can be used to explore upwards of 10,000 kilometers (6,210 miles) of the moon’s landscape.

JAXA President Hiroshi Yamakawa said, “Manned rovers with pressurized cabins are an element that will play an important role in full-fledged exploration and use of the lunar surface.”

The Japanese space agency is planning to launch human exploration missions in the 2030s.
