Despite strict measures taken, the piracy woes still continue to haunt the filmmakers and people get to watch the movies for free within hours of the movie release. However, all this would be a thing of the past soon.

The Union Cabinet approved amendments to the Cinematograph Act 1952 to bring in criminal provisions to tackle film piracy and copyright infringement.

Henceforth, unauthorized camcording or duplication of the film can lead to a three-year jail term. The Indian film fraternity has showered praises on the government on its decision to save the films from getting pirated.
